  • All photos and slideshows are kept in "travels" both on my PC in My Websites and on somesmiths.com Slideshows are built with Visual Slideshow by copying any photos that are to be included into the folder where the slideshow data is kept. Captions are added before they are copied so that the photo has the same caption in Public Pictures as it does in the slideshow folder. If you don't do this and you rename the source folder or photo, the next time you try to modify the slideshow, it won't be able to find the photo(s).

  • To create a slide show, open Visual Slideshow, add photos, order them, caption them, and add music. (To get music, select one or more iTunes tracks and convert them to mp3 with AVS4YOU. If you need to, link them together with Blaze Audio using copy and paste). Save the slideshow in a folder in "my documents/smith files/holiday pics/name" and then publish to the same folder with a file name of "place-slideshow.html". Check the result and if not perfect, redo until satisfied. Use ftp to create a new folder: somesmiths.com/travels/name. Copy the date, engine, and web page into the that folder.

  • To add the .gpx track to Google My Maps, open Google Maps and click on menu. Select "Your Places", then "Maps". Click on "Create Map", then add a layer and select import. When you see your map, click on "Share" and provide a name and description. Change the share options to anyone. Now click on the 3 vertical dots and select "Embed on your site", copy the code and insert it on the source view of the page. To add the .gpx file as a link, it needs to be zipped in order to force a download when the link is clicked on. To zip a file, open File Explorer from the taskbar. Right-click the file you want to zip, and then select Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder. To create an elevation profile, use this website: https://www.gpsvisualizer.com/. Select Profiles/Elevation and use 600 pixels wide by 300 high, with an 80 pixel border. Brouse for the .gpx file, set PNG as the file type, and draw the profile.
