Dinners

Each of the current year dinner pages are sub-pages to this page.  In addition, the final sub-page is the parent page to all of the past dinners that we have had.

The Coordinators try to ensure that members don't have too many repeats and that they get a chance to meet different people at each dinner they attend. To help with that, we developed a "Participation Matrix" that shows who has dined with whom. It is updated monthly along with other website maintenance.

The text of the status report for the September Planning meeting report from Maggie Carter is:

Dear Fellow Diners

We hope everyone has had a happy and healthy summer and are looking forward to  fun times with the Diner’s Club this coming Season.

We had a very successful planning meeting on Monday.   Thank you to the 6 ladies that were able to attend.  To change things up a little, it was decided that we would have three unique events this year as follows:

1.  Sunday Brunch in January rather than a Saturday evening dinner.

2.  “Bring Your Favourite Dish” night in March (more info to follow on this).

3.   BBQ Blast in May

Other months will be a dinner on the Saturday night and Appy parties in December and June, as we have done in the past.

We do need volunteers to host for the following dates :  Sat Nov 26, Sat Feb 25, Sat Apr 29 and Sat May 27th (the BBQ blast).

If you haven’t already chosen a date to host, please advise ASAP so we can get these spaces filled.

 

A big thank you to everyone who has already signed up to Host this year.  A special thanks goes to Sandy and Stan Wood and Allana and John Patterson for offering their lovely homes for the Christmas Appy Party and the June Wind Up Party, respectively.

Another order of business discussed was the decline in membership of the Club that we are experiencing.  (We currently have a total of 21 couples).   We agreed that there a lot of new people that have recently moved into our area and we need to find a way to get the word out to them.

To that end, you will find a "Letter of Invitation” attached,  which we encourage you to print off a few copies to give to neighbours that have recently moved into your area.  It is felt that if we all make a concerted effort, we could get some new members into Diner’s to keep the Club viable and give us all fresh faces to meet and welcome into our wonderful community.

We appreciate your help in reaching this goal.

A big “Welcome Back" to Jackie and Trevor Bebb and also Liz and Jay Spence.  We look forward to your participation in the Diner’s Club this year.

Our first dinner will be Saturday October 29th.  Details will be posted to our webpage shortly and then you will  receive an Invitation to the event via email.
