Our Galapagos Trip in March 2010
|
|
Our trip began at the end of February, 2010, with a ferry ride and drive to
Seattle (obligatory shopping along the way), a flight to Quito via Houston,
followed by a two night stay in Quito. Quito is a fairly uninteresting
city in the North of Ecuador at about 9,000 feet elevation with a population of
1.5 million people, most of whom dedicate their time trying to sell trinkets to
tourists. They do have some highlights, though, one of which was our
hotel, the иии. We then flew to Baltra in the Galapagos and started our seven day magical tour of the Galapagos Islands. The ship, Celebrity Xpedition, carries 92 passengers and 6-8 highly knowledgeable guides. Every day there were two adventures with good but not great meals in between. Following the cruise, we left with a smaller party to tour Peru, both the Sacred Valley of the Incas and the coastal area South of Lima to look at the Nazca Lines. Great hotels, great restaurants. |
